The Jewish Project, November 17

25.00

The Jewish Project is a portrait of a Jew through ice cream and storytelling. Jared Goodman weaves personal stories of being a Jew with Jewish history and culture, exploring themes of identity, secularism vs traditionalism, the writings of Isaac Bashevic Singer and Abraham Joshua Heschel, plus some klezmer music too. Pairing storytelling with handmade and inspired ice cream desserts, he aims to combat the spread of anti-Semitism and educate Oregonians on Judaism and Jewishness.

This performance will take at the Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education, located in downtown Portland. The show will be hosted during museum hours so guests may experience the museum, in addition to this performance. Goodman’s partnership with the Oregon Jewish Museum brings this show to an accessible venue in downtown Portland on Saturday, November 17. Guests may arrive at 2pm and our show begins promptly at 2:30pm. The $25 ticket includes storytelling, dessert, and tea. Seating is limited.

*The drawing of Hasidic men is by Jared’s mom, the artist, Jeanne Goodman.
