The Jewish Project, November 10

25.00

The Jewish Project is a portrait of a Jew through ice cream and storytelling. Jared Goodman weaves personal stories of being a Jew with Jewish history and culture, exploring themes of identity, secularism vs traditionalism, the writings of Isaac Bashevic Singer and Abraham Joshua Heschel, plus some klezmer music too. Pairing storytelling with handmade and inspired ice cream desserts, he aims to combat the spread of anti-Semitism and educate Oregonians on Judaism and Jewishness.

This performance will take at Shir Tikva, a progressive Jewish congregation in NE Portland. Shir Tikva is an independent congregation that is unaffiliated with a specific Jewish movement. This community is welcoming to everyone, regardless of your background of religious affiliations. Goodman’s partnership with Shir Tikva and their community brings this show to an accessible venue in NE Portland on Saturday, November 10. Guests may arrive at 7pm and our show begins promptly at 7:30pm. The $25 ticket includes storytelling, dessert, and tea. Seating is limited.

*The drawing of dancing Jewish women is by Jared’s mom, the artist, Jeanne Goodman.
