Ice Cream Seuss-Off, May 24
I'm so excited to share a truly unique event that pairs live performance with inspired desserts, and all for a good cause! For the third year in a row, Morgan St Theater is co-hosting an entertaining fundraiser that pairs classic Dr. Seuss stories with inspired ice cream treats, and some competitive spirit too!
On Thursday May 24th, five Portland-based performers will participate in the world's only, competitive children's book read aloud. Each participant will read aloud a carefully selected Dr Seuss book in front of a live audience. Guests vote on the best performance, and that reader wins a prize.
Finding inspiration in the story, theme, imagery and sheer nostalgia of each book, I will create a frozen dessert to be served with each performance. Unlike our standard sets, this event will include a 5-course dessert tasting menu!!
It gets better.
$9 from every $39 ticket sold (limited to just 40 people) will be donated to The Children's Book Bank, a fantastic local nonprofit that provides used children's books to low-income youth in Portland. Even better, the event will be hosted within The Children's Book Bank and guests can tour the facility and learn more about this amazing organization. In addition to the fun and outlandishness of combining these incredible Dr. Seuss stories with ice cream, this amazing organization that works with children will also benefit in some small way.
